About

Welcome to Big, Loud, Upside Down! This is a space where we embrace honesty, rawness, and finding beauty in broken things and difficult situations. We want to share the joy of having a big family, full of activities and intentionality, and the blessings of healing through broken expectations.

For me, words are more than just letters arranged on a page. They are therapeutic, a tool to help me process, heal, and communicate my thoughts and emotions. Words make me think, inspire me, and challenge me to be better. However, even with all their power, sometimes words fall short of describing the complexity of a person. To many, I am a wife, a mom, a special needs advocate, a teacher, a lawyer, a sister, a daughter, and a friend. But to myself, I am simply a girl who uses words to embrace life’s chaos, find the silver linings, and encourage others to keep running the race with style and stamina.

My life is full of joy and activity. I have a big, loud, and busy family, including four boys, three girls, an incredible husband, and a mini golden doodle named Oliver. One of my daughters came into our lives with designer genes, and we have received an incredible education in all things related to Down Syndrome. Our family life revolves around homeschooling, raising backyard chickens, and playing soccer, basketball, cross-country, and gymnastics.

Through it all, my faith in Jesus is what gives me strength. He has helped me heal from deep wounds and has transformed me into a woman who can manage a large, noisy family, and find the positive in even the toughest situations. For me, words are not just words; they are a means to an end, to tell my story, to heal, and to inspire others to find their way through life’s curveballs.

Let’s build something together.
